This may be a bold statement, but we will say it anyway - the M3 stands as the most iconic sports sedan in history. It has certainly evolved over the years, with true E46 die-hards being critical of the ever increasing waistline, and the detachment of driver from car due to ever evolving technology. All that said, there are few legitimate competitors to this track (and road) monster, with even its biggest critics of the latest variants conceding that it still has the goods. It is likely because of these factors that you are more likely to see older M3's on track, given their more affordable price, endless performance modification options, and no compromise when it comes to performance and driving enjoyment.
